Disha Patani: Levelling Up With Each Project

Mumbai: Every time Disha Patani appears on screen, she seems to be in a completely different phase of her career — and that’s precisely what makes her so hard to pin down. The actress began her journey with the 2015 Telugu film Loafer opposite Varun Tej, but it was the 2016 Bollywood hit MS Dhoni: An Untold Story that truly put her in the spotlight. As Priyanka, she brought a rare vulnerability and tenderness to the screen, leaving an impression on audiences nationwide that many are still not quite over.

She went on to make her Chinese film debut in 2017 with Kung Fu Yoga, starring alongside the legendary Jackie Chan — a bold addition to her filmography that made it clear early on she had no intention of being confined to one kind of role. Films like Bharat, Baaghi 2, Malang, Radhe, and Ek Villain Returns only reinforced that. Across these projects, she moved fluidly between romantic drama, action-romance, morally grey characters, and action-thrillers, steadily building a body of work that refused easy categorisation.

Then came 2024 — a year Disha owned outright, with three back-to-back releases. She pushed herself physically with intense action sequences in Yodha, then completely reinvented her screen presence in Kalki 2898 AD, playing a fierce bounty hunter and mercenary in a sprawling sci-fi universe — a genuinely daring shift. She rounded off the year with Kanguva, marking her Tamil film debut as the female lead. By then, it was clear: Disha Patani had firmly established herself as a pan-India star.

That momentum has carried straight into 2026, another three-release year for the actress. O’Romeo has already made its mark as a strong addition to her filmography. From there, she stepped into full-blown comedy territory as part of one of Bollywood’s most iconic comedy franchises with Welcome to the Jungle, bringing both glamour and sharp comic timing to the screen — and landing every punchline along the way.

Now, she’s gearing up to be a key part of Awarapan 2, the long-awaited sequel to the beloved cult classic. The trailer has already dropped, showing a more emotionally restrained side of Disha, and it’s got audiences buzzing about where her character arc is headed. As the film heads toward its big theatrical release, fans are eager to see yet another reinvention from her on the big screen.

And this time, it doesn’t feel accidental. Disha Patani isn’t simply picking different roles anymore — she’s building a career where constant evolution isn’t just a side effect. It’s the entire point.
